It is a precious platinum group metal. Rhodium is a hard, silvery-white metal with a density of 12.41 g/cm³, a melting point of 1966°C, and a boiling point of 3695°C.
It is insoluble in water, air, dilute acid, and aqua regia at room temperature. It is soluble only in molten alkali or high-temperature concentrated sulfuric acid.

High-purity rhodium powder (99.9%+) or specific alloy forms (such as platinum-rhodium wire) can command a premium of over 500 rmb/gram, while low-purity scrap (rhodium content <5%) commands only 300-600 rmb/gram, resulting in a price difference of 200,000-500,000 rmb/kg.
Market Dynamics
International rhodium prices are driven by mineral supply (limited production capacity in South Africa) and environmental policies.
